The 2024 TCS London Marathon will take place April 21, bringing more than 50,000 competitors to the capital and largest city in England, where their 26.2-mile trek will take them past some of the area’s most iconic landmarks – Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, the London Eye, Canary Wharf and more.

This year’s event will feature a £43,500 (approximately $55,142 USD) top prize for the winner in each eliter division.

Competition on the day of the 2024 London Marathon will take place in waves, or staggered start times. 

The men’s winner at the 2023 London Marathon was 23-year-old Kelvin Kiptum of Kenya, who set the course record of 2:01:25. It was the second-fastest marathon in history (at the time), a record he claimed six months later when he won the 2023 Chicago Marathon (2:00:35). 

Shortly after his record-setting performance, Kiptum was killed in a car accident (February 2024) at the age of 24.

The women’s winner at the London Marathon in 2023 was Sifan Hassan of the Netherlands, who completed the race in 2:18:33.

The one-day 2024 London Marathon will take place April 21 and see more than 50,000 athletes race their way along a 26.2-mile course through the streets of London.
