Galen Rupp won the Foot Traffic Holiday Half Marathon in 1:01:20, unofficially, this morning in Portland, Oregon and qualified for the 2016 Olympic Marathon Trials.
The reigning Olympic Silver Medalist over 10K has not stated whether he will or will not run in the February 13 Los Angeles contest, but the low-key Portland half marathon was declared a USATF sanctioned course only a few days before the race according to SI's Chris Chavez. Rupp needed to run 1:05 or faster to qualify.
This was only Rupp's second battle with the distance as he ran 1:00:30 in the 2011 New York City Half Marathon. If Rupp declares an entry into the Olympic Marathon Trials, he will likely not compete in an indoor season, as the U.S. Indoor Championships to qualify for the 2016 World Indoor Championships are only three weeks after he would be making his marathon debut. He finished fourth in the 3K at the 2014 World Indoor Championships.
So we'll ask again, do you think Galen Rupp will run the Olympic Marathon Trials?

Was just informed that the Portland half-marathon that Galen Rupp is racing on Sun. is now USATF sanctioned for an Olympic Trials qualifier.
