Drew Hunter over Grant Fisher at Brooks PR Invitational 2 Mile

Grant Fisher had not lost to a U.S. high school athlete since 2013 when he finished behind Blake Haney in the 1500m final at the IAAF World Youth Championships. Since then, Fisher went on to race in 45 races (finals/invites) without a single loss to a U.S. high school athlete. The 45 race streak included two Foot Locker titles, two adidas Dream Mile victories, two New Balance Nationals Indoor Mile wins, 8 Michigan State titles, and one Brooks PR 2 Mile win. It wasnÂ’t until race number 46 at the 2015 Brooks PR Invitational when Grant Fisher was finally defeated in his last high school only competition to future 2015 Foot Locker champion Drew Hunter. HunterÂ’s upset win over Fisher was impressive due to the talent of Fisher (a newly crowned sub-4:00 miler) and the fact that Fisher was perfect for 45 straight races. HunterÂ’s upset win would kick off the new era of high school dominance as he went on to defeat Fisher at the U.S. Junior Championships and now looks to be the man to beat in the 2016 track season.
