Probable Top Five:
FR Lauren Gregory (4:41 Mile; 10:05 2 Mile; 3rd at '16 NXN)
SO Taylor Werner (9:06 3K; 15:51 5K; 1st at '17 USATF Jr. 3K; 16th at '16 NCAA XC)
JR Devin Clark (16:15 5K; 9:49 3K SC; 5th at '16 NCAA 3K XC; 118th at '16 NCAA XC)
SO Abby Gray (16:06 5K; 23rd at '17 NCAA 5K; 168th at '16 NCAA XC)
SR Nikki Hiltz (4:10 1500; 9:24 3K; 6th at '17 USATF 1500; 154th at '16 NCAA XC)
Impact Freshmen/Transfers:
Lauren Gregory via Fort Collins, CO (4:41 Mile; 10:05 2 Mile; 3rd at '16 NXN)
Ashton Endsley via Abilene, TX (10:25 3200; 6th at '15 NXN; 26th at '16 NXN)
Joy Ripslinger via Davenport, IA (2:07 800; 4:31 1500; 4th at '16 IA State XC)
Analysis:
The Arkansas women look to make one of the biggest jumps in 2017. After a 19th-place finish last year the Razorbacks come in ranked seventh with two star runners up front in true freshman Lauren Gregory (third at NXN) and sophomore Taylor Werner (16th last year). Both of these ladies should make immediate impacts for the young squad.
The Razorbacks also have incredible depth with 9:49 steeplechaser Devin Clark, 2017 NCAA 5K qualifier Abby Gray, and 1500m All-American Nikki Hiltz. These three women have proven their talent over the years and should be solid scorers for the Razorbacks.
Two other freshmen could also sneak into the top seven in Ashton Endsley (sixth at '15 NXN) and Joy Ripslinger (4:31 1500). Overall, the Arkansas women should be a top-10 caliber team all season long.
