The 2024 Don Kirby Elite Invitational is expected to bring together many of the best track & field athletes from the Southwest and West Coast, and you don’t want to miss any of the action from the Albuquerque Convention Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico. 

The 2024 edition of the Don Kirby Elite Invitational is hosted by the University of New Mexico as a home meet, while it also will give competitors a chance to experience the venue before the Mountain West Indoor Championships on Feb. 22-24.

Take this opportunity to watch some of the country’s top collegiate track & field stars compete in a variety of races and events. 

The women’s schedule for the weekend includes the 60-, 200- and 400-meter dash, 600-meter run, 800-meter run, 3,000-meter run, mile run, 60-meter hurdles, 4x400 relay, high jump, pole vault, long jump, triple jump, shot put and weight throw.

The men will battle in the same events.

About The Indoor Track At The Albuquerque Convention Center

More than 100 times since 2005, a transformed Albuquerque Convention Center has welcomed track & field athletes of all ages and skill levels. Among the list of events are 16 national championships – collegiate or otherwise. 

In March 2021, a new race surface was unveiled in the custom venue as part of a $3 million renovation to continue attracting top-tier events. It continues a tradition that began in 2005, when the city was able to bring back indoor track to the area for the first time in two decades. 

The new track, the same surface used at the recent Tokyo Olympic Games, is described as a 200-meter, 60-degree banked tracked with 60-meter straightaways. There also are jumping pits, areas for the shot put, pole vault and high jump. 

The venue also serves as the home track for the University of New Mexico indoor track & field programs. 

The Albuquerque Convention Center itself is located in downtown Albuquerque and boasts more than 600,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor space for meetings, exhibits, functions and events. 

The property also now includes a 2,300-seat auditorium, a plaza and a sports complex that can host championship-level baseball and softball events and games.
