18-Year-Old Cam Myers Breaks Aussie 3k Record, Takes Third At NB Grand Prix
After shattering the World U20 indoor mile record a week ago, Cameron Myers made more history in the 3k this afternoon at the 2025 New Balance Grand Prix.

Despite going up against a competitive and more experienced field in the 3,000m this afternoon, Australian sensation Cameron Myers made more history at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix.

On the second stop of his American indoor circuit, Myers moved up a few distances to the 3,000m, an event that clearly wasn't too much to handle. In just his second-ever race on an indoor track, Myers held on for a third-place finish in 7:33.12, a new Australian and Oceanic record, bumping Craig Mottram down to No. 2 on both lists.
Mottram had held the record since 2008 after running 7:34.50 in Boston.
Myers closed his final 800m in 1:57 to hold off American Hobbs Kessler, who finished fourth in 7:35.06.
Over the last eight days alone, Myers has set a U20 World Record in the indoor mile, as well as moved up to No. 4 on the World U20 list in the 3000m.
Truly put, Myers' epic performance into perspective, his race today would have broken Nico Young's national high school record of 7:56.97 by roughly 26 seconds.
