Nike Launches Swoosh Track Club, Names Three Premier Coaches
Nike has introduced Swoosh Track Club, featuring three distinct locations and training hubs.

This morning, Nike introduced Swoosh Track Club, a distance pro network featuring several of the best coaches in the sport and three training hubs.
The club will be led by Diljeet Taylor in Utah, Jerry Schumacher in Oregon and Mike Smith in Arizona. Each location will host a "physical hub" and training resources where its athletes will live and train.

Nike has essentially launched a super-team of coaches and suspected athletes, programming a premier track club. As reported by Runner's World, Bowerman Track Club will essentially merge with Swoosh Track Club. The Bowerman pro runners will now be a part of Swoosh TC, but Bowerman Track Club will remain as an independent club for youth, masters and post-collegians.
Diljeet Taylor will continue to serve as the women's head coach at BYU. It is also reported that she will continue to coach a handful of athletes that aren't currently sponsored by Nike. Courtney Wayment (On) and Whittni Morgan (adidas) were coached by Taylor when the coach led Taylor Made Elite.
According to the Nike release, Jerry Schumacher will lead the Oregon-based club in partnership with Shalane Flanagan. Flanagan is an assistant cross country/distance coach at Oregon University.
Mike Smith will lead the Flagstaff, Arizona club beginning in July. He will coach in partnership with his wife, Rachel Smith. Smith is currently the head coach at Northern Arizona University, and in the summer of the 2024, he announced that the 2024-25 academic year would be his last at NAU.
The club's focus will supposedly keep the athletes at the center of its mission. By creating a network of locations and athletes for individuals to train with, Nike is creating a West Coast powerhouse.
As part of the program, all Nike distance runners, regardless of club affiliation, will have access to the club's facilities and coaches.
This new program is a huge step for Nike as the brand has recently started to lose its stranglehold on American distance running, particularly with the emergence of international brands and indie brands.
