Faith Kipyegon Will Headline 2025 Pre Classic 1500m
Faith Kipyegon will toe the line in the 1500m at the 2025 Pre Classic at Hayward Field on July 5.
Today - 2025 Pre Classic meet organizers have announced that three-time Olympic Gold Medalist Faith Kipyegon will toe the line in the event's 1500m on July 5.
Kipyegon, who currently holds World Records in the 1500m and the Mile, will look to win her seventh 1500m Pre Classic title this summer. Last year, she set the 3:49.04 1500m WR at the Paris Diamond League meeting on July 7, 2024. Nearly one year later (to the day), she has the opportunity to do it again.

Her race at the Pre Classic is scheduled for nine days after her impending sub-4 minute mile attempt. Last month it was announced that she would attempt to become the first woman to break 4 minutes in the mile at the Stade Charlety in Paris.
In 2024, Kipyegon secured her third Olympic title over a 12 year-span. She set the Olympic 1500m record of 3:51.29 to hold off Jessica Hull and Georgia Bell. She then secured silver in the women's 5000m after doubling back.
Those performances added to her already decorated resume which includes three World 1500m Titles (2017, 2022 and 2023), a World 5000m Title (2023), and six Diamond Trophies.
Kipyegon will be joined at the Pre Classic by her fellow 2024 Olympic 1500m podium-mates as Jessica Hull and Georgia Bell are also slated to compete.
