Emmanuel Wanyonyi Will Race Stockholm Diamond League 800m In 2025

Emmanuel Wanyonyi, the world's top 800m runner, will race at the BAHAUS-galan at the Stockholm Diamond League meeting on June 15.

Emmanuel Wanyonyi, who recently won the Grand Slam Track Kingston Slam, is slated to compete in the 800m at the Stockholm Diamond League meeting on June 15.

The 20 year-old is arguably the best 800m runner in the world. In Paris, he took home the Olympic Gold and he has run 1:41.11 over the distance. 

Currently, he will race two other Olympic finalists from the 2024 cycle, Djamel Sedjati (ALG) and Gabriel Tual (FRA). Sedjati finished third with his 1:41.50, and Tual finished sixth with a 1:42.14.

In 2025, Wanyonyi has found himself at the forefront of the middle-distance world yet again. At the beginning of April he made headlines when he jumped to the 1,500m distance and took down the Olympic podium of Cole Hocker, Josh Kerr and Yared Nuguse at Grand Slam Track Kingston. He completed the sweep with a win over the 800m distance the next day.

Then two weeks ago, he won the adizero: Roads to Records one mile road race by running 3:52.45 to take down a talented field.

Swedish runner Andreas Kramer will also toe the line in Stockholm. Last summer he ran a personal best 1:43.14 in Monaco. He qualified for the Olympic semi-final in Paris.
