Today, meet organizers announced that Noah Lyles will race at the London Diamond League Meeting on Saturday, July 19.

He is currently slated to race the 100m, the same event that he won at the 2024 London Diamond League meeting. At last year's event, Lyles ran 9.81 (-0.3) and set himself up nicely for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, two weeks later.

In Paris, Lyles won gold over 100m and ran a lifetime best 9.79. He also earned a bronze medal over the 200m.

"My road to defending my world titles in Tokyo in September goes through London," said Lyles in a provided statement. "I've had great experiences there the last two years, running some of my fastest times, and I look forward to another in July. See you there!"

As mentioned, Lyles will look to defend his world title in 2025. At the 2023 World Championships in Budapest, Lyles earned Gold in the 100m, 200m and 4x100m relay. Looking back further, he also earned gold in the 200m at the 2022 World Championships in Eugene.

This year, he has yet to run an open 100m or 200m, but recently opened his season with a 45.87 400m at the Tom Jones Memorial Invitational. He then withdrew from the Atlanta City Games, citing a "tight ankle".

The ailment is not believed to be serious, and the Lyles camp may be opting to play it safe heading into a long 2025 season.
