Diamond League Stockholm 2025: Warholm, Mondo, and Alfred Lead Showdowns

The Diamond League rolls into Stockholm with momentum from a record-breaking meet in Oslo. Several of the sport’s biggest stars—including Karsten Warholm, Femke Bol, Armand Duplantis, and Julien Alfred—are set to compete again in high-stakes rematches and season-defining showdowns. Here's what to watch for.

Men’s 400m Hurdles

After breaking the world record again in the 300m hurdles with a stunning 32.67, Karsten Warholm returns to his signature event—the 400m hurdles—where he also holds the world record. He’ll face an almost identical field to Oslo, including Alison dos Santos, who has been in outstanding form this season, and Rai Benjamin, who opened his season in that same world record breaking race in Oslo with a personal best of 33.22. The trio—who shared the podium in Tokyo—are set to clash once again in Stockholm, promising another thrilling showdown.

Women’s 400m Hurdles

Dalilah Muhammad reminded everyone why she’s a legend of the event with a commanding win in Oslo, pulling away strongly in the final stretch. She’ll line up once again in Stockholm, but this time against Femke Bol, who is currently ranked No. 2 in the world and has clocked a season’s best of 52.46. With both stars in top form, this is shaping up to be one of the highlights of the meet.

Men’s Pole Vault

Armand “Mondo” Duplantis is back and looking to soar even higher. After taking the win in Oslo under what he described as “not pole vault friendly” conditions, the reigning world record holder will be eyeing a big clearance in Stockholm. With better weather expected, fans could see Duplantis attempt to push the world record mark yet again. Look for strong competition from Sam Kendricks and Emmanouil Karalis, both of whom have been consistently over 5.90m this season.

Women’s 100m

Another blockbuster rematch is on the horizon. Julien Alfred opened her 100m season with a 10.89 win in Oslo, beating both Marie-Josée Ta Lou-Smith and training partner Dina Asher-Smith. It was an impressive start, and Alfred didn’t even look fully satisfied, suggesting there’s more to come. A quick turnaround to Stockholm could produce a world lead from Alfred, while Ta Lou-Smith—still very much in form—remains a serious threat. Expect fireworks.

Women’s 800m

This race promises to be fast and fiercely contested. Jemma Reekie, Addison Wiley, Georgia Bell, and Prudence Sekgodiso headline a stacked field. Both Audrey Werro and Sekgodiso have already run under 1:58 this season, and with this group pushing the pace, we could see another sub-1:58 finish in Stockholm. Keep an eye on Sekgodiso—her racing tactics and speed endurance make her a potential winner here.

Men’s 5000m

After the fireworks in Oslo, the men’s 5000m just got even more compelling. Nico Young stunned the field with a meet and US Outdoor record of 12:45.27, signaling that American distance runners are finally closing the gap on the dominant East Africans. In Stockholm, look out for Cole Hocker, who’s been in phenomenal form and has already posted a 12:57.82 this season. If the race goes out fast, we could see more historic times.
