Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone Will Headline Pre Classic 400m 2025

Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone will race the 400m at the 2025 Prefontaine Classic.

We're going to get more of Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone in the 400m. 

The reigning 400mH Olympic Gold Medalist is entered to race the women's 400m at the Prefontaine Classic on July 11. Notably, it will be McLaughlin-Levrone's first time ever racing at the Pre Classic.

McLaughlin-Levrone's 400m hurdles resume is well known. She is the current World Record Holder, and reset her own record to win the 2024 Olympic Gold Medal in 50.37. She added an Olympic Gold in the 4x400m, and raised her Olympic gold medal count to four.

In 2025, she has already run two 400m races at the Grand Slam Track events in Kingston (JAM) and Miami. In Kingston. McLaughlin-Levrone ran 50.32 for the 400m and overall slam win. She repeated that feat in Miami with a 49.69 posting.

She has a personal best of 48.74 from the 2023 USATF Championships.

"I'm excited to participate in this year's Prefontaine Classic, which holds a special place in the heart of track and field," said McLaughlin-Levrone in a provided statement. "I'm looking forward to competing against an incredible field of athletes and can't wait to see everyone in Eugene!"

The 400m is a non-Diamond League discipline at the 2025 rendition of the Pre Classic.
