200m Showdown: Noah Lyles Vs. Letsile Tebogo
For the first time since the Paris Olympic Games, 200m gold medalist Letsile Tebogo and bronze medalist Noah Lyles will face off—this time on the iconic track in Monaco.
Tebogo was already confirmed to race and comes in with momentum, having clocked a world-leading 19.76 at the Prefontaine Classic in Eugene—his first race back after an early-season injury. Meanwhile, Noah Lyles announced on Tuesday that Monaco will serve as his 2025 200m opener, following a battle with an ankle injury.
Given Lyles’ competitive fire, fans can expect a world-class performance. Also joining the mix are Jereem Richards (Trinidad & Tobago) and Alexander Ogando (Dominican Republic), adding even more depth to an already stacked field.
Jessica Hull Tackles The 1000m
Australia’s Jessica Hull, one of the world’s top middle-distance runners, will take on the 1000m—an event well-suited to her versatility. Just last week in Eugene, she ran a season-best 3:52.67 in the 1500m, in a race where Faith Kipyegon shattered her own world record with a stunning 3:48.68.
Men’s 800m: Olympic Podium Rematch
One of the most anticipated races in Monaco will be the men’s 800m, which features a full Olympic podium rematch. Emmanuel Wanyonyi, the reigning Olympic champion, has already shown top-tier form this season with a blazing 1:41.95. He enters Monaco as the man to beat. Marco Arop, the Olympic silver medalist, has been sharpening his endurance with improved 1500m performances that are now translating into faster 800m finishes. Djamel Sedjati, who took bronze in Paris, is also in strong form with a season’s best of 1:42.27. With all three at peak condition, this race promises to be an all-out two-lap battle from the gun to the tape.
Shot Put: Chase Jackson Vs. Sarah Mitton
Two of the world’s best in the women's shot put will clash again. American record holder Chase Jackson enters Monaco riding high after a meet record win at the Prefontaine Classic.
Close behind her in that same competition was Sarah Mitton, who threw 20.39m for second place. Their rivalry promises another thrilling chapter in Monaco.
Mondo Duplantis Eyes Another World Record
Armand “Mondo” Duplantis needs no introduction. With two world records already this season, Monaco could be the stage for a third—if conditions align.
He’ll be joined by the next three top-ranked vaulters in the world: Emmanuel Karalis, Sam Kendricks, and John Ernest Obiena. Expect a show in the pole vault pit.
Men’s 110m Hurdles: Deep & Unpredictable Field
The men’s 110m hurdles is set to be one of the most unpredictable races of the meet. With several breakout stars and established contenders, any athlete in this field could walk away with the win. Dylan Beard continues to prove he belongs on the elite stage, consistently improving with every race. Cordell Tinch, who earlier this season became the fourth-fastest man in history in the event, brings serious firepower. Trey Cunningham has shown poise and consistency, often appearing in full control from start to finish. Ja’Kobe Thorpe, fresh off an NCAA national title, will also be looking to make a statement on the professional stage. With this level of talent and depth, expect a fast, tight, and dramatic hurdles final.
Women’s 100m: Alfred Seeks Redemption, Sears On The Rise
Olympic champion Julien Alfred headlines the women’s 100m, looking to bounce back after her first loss of the season to Melissa Jefferson-Wooden in Eugene. Alfred is known for quick turnarounds—after seemingly being disappointed with her 10.89 in Oslo earlier this season, she roared back just days later with a 10.75 in Stockholm.
Challenging her will be rising star Jacious Sears, who ran 10.85 in the invitational 100m at Prefontaine. Sears’ explosive starts make her a serious threat—don’t be surprised if she lowers her personal best (currently 10.77) in Monaco.
