Noah Lyles, Kenny Bednarek Heated After 200m Final At USATF Championships
After the men's 200m final at the 2025 USATF Outdoor Championships, Noah Lyles and Kenny Bednarek exchanged words and nearly fought on the track. Read more.

After the final of the men's 200m at the 2025 Toyota USA Track and Field Outdoor Championships, it was very clear that there might be more than just a friendly rivalry between superstar Noah Lyles and his Team USA teammate Kenny Bednarek.
As they crossed the finish line at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon, on Sunday, Lyles said a lot with a fiery stare in Bednarek's direction, and that earned him a shove in return.
The two exchanged words immediately after and looked as if they were ready to fight on the track. The verbal sparring carried into their post-race interview, and there's no doubt more will be said behind the scenes.
The drama should only make their potential rematch at the 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo in September one of the year's most anticipated showdowns.

As of late, Lyles has been the sprinter to beat, and his titles in the 100- and 200-meter races at the 2023 World Athletics Championships earned him automatic spots in the upcoming edition.
That said, he didn't even need to race in the 200m on Sunday and could've withdrawn, just as he did from the 100m race earlier in the four-day event.
Instead, he won the race with a time of 19.63, while Bednarek was second at 19.67. Robert Gregory quietly finished third at 19.80.

At the 2024 Paris Olympics, Lyles took home the gold medal in the 100m, but the 200m didn't go as well. In that race, Letsile Tebogo of Botswana was the winner, with Bednarek and Lyles taking silver and bronze, respectively.
Hours after the 200-meter final at the Olympics, Lyles revealed that he'd tested positive for COVID-19 and that would be his last race in Paris.
The 2025 USATF Outdoor Championships, being held July 31 through Aug. 3, will help determine the United States' roster for Tokyo in September.
With Lyles and Bednarek both likely to be on that team, how will their situation affect Team USA's chemistry and performance at the biggest event of 2025?
