While eyeballs were on the US Championships and Jonah Koech's upset 1500m, Under Armour was quietly putting together a string of stellar performances over the 1500m distance. In one swoop, Under Armour runners scored 1500m National Titles at the US Championship, British Championship, Mexican Championship and added a second place finish at the Canadian Championship.

UA will send a stacked event group to the World Championship in Tokyo, with hopes of returning to Baltimore, Maryland with a medal or two.

August 1 - Lalo Herrera's Breakout Campaign Continues

Representing Mexcio, Eduardo "Lalo" Herrera has been the breakout man of the year.

He made waves when at the 2025 Sound Running Track Fest, he dipped below the 13-minute barrier and became the first Mexican Athlete to ever accomplish the feat. He ran 12:58.57 and set a new Mexican National Record.

Displaying some range, Herrera dipped back down to the 1500m at the Mexican National Championships and out-kicked Diego Vizcarra for the 1500m National Title in 3:46.70. He later won the 5,000m National Title with a tactical 14:11.69 finish.

He most recently ran a 7:33.58 3,000m at the Hungarian Grand Prix, adding his third National Record.

August 2 - Jonah Koech Steals The Show In Eugene

On Saturday, August 2 - Jonah Koech stunned the crowd in Eugene, Oregon. The stadium, expecting to see Cole Hocker or Yared Nuguse surge to victory, was instead awed by the presence of Ethan Strand at the front and Jonah Koech running him down.

Over the waning moments of the race, Jonah Koech surged past Strand and at the age of 28, collected the US National Title in 3:30.17.

For Koech, it is his first time qualifying for a World Team in the 1,500m. He previously competed at the 2022 World Championships in the 800m.

August 3 - Neil Gourley's Tactful Sprint To Victory In Birmingham

A day removed from Koech and his 1500m triumph, Gourley found pay-dirt at the UK Championships.

A meandering pace kept the field compressed and twelve runners remained in contention with 100m remaining. Gourley was positioned in third, but over the final 100m, the Scotsman found some strength.

With 25-meters remaining, Gourley caught Elliot Giles, who responded with an elbow to the mid-figure of Gourley. But it wasn't enough to slow the charging move from the 30-year-old. Gourley crossed the line in 3:47.06 and earned his seventh UK Title. It was also his third-straight. He has now qualified for his fourth world championship team.

August 3 - Foster Malleck Finishes Second At Canadian Championship

A fourth Under Armour athlete nearly fought his way to 1500m victory at the Canadian National Championships.

Foster Malleck delivered a second place finish in an extremely tactical championship 1500m. He posted a 3:58.88 - finishing with a 50.81 last 400m.

Just a few days later, on August 6, Malleck competed at La Classique d'athlétisme de Montréal. There, he won with the second-fastest time in Canadian History, and the fastest time ever run on Canadian soil. Malleck defeated Max Davies (who beat Malleck at the National Championship) with a record setting 3:32.38 run.

He will join the other three Under Armour stars in Tokyo.
