Former NCAA Standout Matt Strangio will join the Brooks Beasts ahead of the 2025-2026 season.

Strangio recently capped his collegiate career at the University of Portland. He scored a sixth place finish in the 5,000m at the 2025 NCAA Outdoor Championships to add to his collegiate legacy. Earlier in the year, he notched a tenth place finish at the NCAA Indoor Championship in the 3,000m.

He was also an All-American on the cross country course in 2024, with a 22nd place finish.

The 24-year-old has personal bests of 3:36.95 (1500m), 7:39.02 (3K), and 13:20.56 (5K) on the track. He ran that 13:20 for a second place finish at the Morton Games in Ireland in July.

Before college, Strangio was a two-time California State XC Champion and a two-time state champion on the track, in the 1600m and 3200m.

According to Brooks Beasts Coach Danny Mackey, Strangio will debut at the US XC Championships in December.

“We are very excited to add Matt to the Beasts roster," said Mackey in a provided statement. "Matt comes from a very strong University of Portland culture, he’s going to bring a high-level work ethic and confidence to the squad.  I’m already looking forward to Matt debuting for Brooks next month at the US Cross Country Championships.”

"We’re incredibly proud to be adding Matt Strangio to the Brooks Beast team following a decorated collegiate career at the University of Portland," added Brooks Sports Marketing Senior Manager Garrett Heath. "Matt is one of the nation’s most promising distance talents and brings an unwavering dedication to his training every day. He embodies resilience, humility, and a team-first mindset - all qualities that align with the Brooks Beasts culture of excellence and community. His dedication to growth and leadership, both on and off the track, makes him an exciting addition as he begins his professional journey with the Beasts."
