Elizabeth Khatevi of Texas A&M Corpus Christi was the first to finish the women's 6000m race in the NCAA D1 Cross Country South Central Regional with a time of 19:33.6, nearly 6 seconds ahead of Sydney Thorvaldson from Arkansas.

Khatevi was ranked No. 20 in the most recent FloTrack 2025 XC Rankings presented by HOKA.

24th-ranked Timothy Chesondin took the win home for the hosting Razorbacks with a 28:44.4 with Tulane's Bernard Cheruiyot, 7 seconds back, and Silas Kiptanui, 27 seconds behind, in second and third.

The University of Arkansas' Agri Park set the backdrop for the qualifying regional that determined which teams made it on to the 2025 NCAA Cross Country National Championships on Nov. 22.

The Texas A&M women led the team scores after it was all said and done with 71 points—stunning LSU (86) and Tulane (108). The top two teams secure the two automatic bids and punch their ticket to Columbia, MO for the nationals.

On the men's side, Tulane led the team scores with 44, barely ahead of Arkansas with a 46. Texas A&M trailed further behind in third with an 83.

The remaining 14 teams are chosen by the NCAA committee and given at-large bids.

How To Watch The NCAA Cross Country Regionals 2025

The NCAA Cross Country Regionals are not streaming live according to NCAA.com, although ESPN+ shows the South Regional and Midwest Regional on the broadcast schedule for Friday, Nov. 14.

How Do Teams, Runners Qualify For NCAA D1 Cross Country National Championship?

For men's and women's, the top two teams in each regional — there are nine in total — automatically qualify for the championships, which equates to 18 automatic qualifiers. 

The NCAA DI Cross Country Subcommittee will then choose 14 at-large teams to fill out the 32 team field.

Individually, the first four finishers who do not belong to an automatic qualifier or an at-large team automatically advance to the championships. All four finishers have to finish in the top 25 within their region. Altogether, 36 individuals automatically qualify and two are chosen at-large, making 38 the grand total. The two at-large selections are the highest placing individuals at a regional that were not automatic qualifiers.

The Cross Country Championships are on Nov. 22 at Gans Creek Cross Country Course in Columbia, Missouri.
