Quincy Wilson Hunting 500m National Record At 2026 VA Showcase
Quincy Wilson Hunting 500m National Record At 2026 VA Showcase
Quincy Wilson will run the 500m at the 2026 VA Showcase in what will be a race for redemption and a national record.

At the 2025 VA Showcase, Andrew Salvodon and Quincy Wilson clashed in the 500m, and Salvodon walked away with the HS National Record. He stunned to run 1:00.49 and obliterated the previous record of 1:01.25, set by Will Sumner in 2022.
Quincy Wilson is eying up redemption at the 2026 VA Showcase where he is entered in the 500m, yet again.

When Salvodon broke the 500m National Record, he ran a time that ranked him eighth in World History. His 1:00.49 was also faster than the NCAA Record.
So, Wilson will have his work cut out for him if he hopes to break that record come Saturday. He currently has the fourth fastest time in High School History. Wilson's indoor personal best of 1:01.27 sits him behind Sumner and Salvodon, who also ran a 1:01.20 later in the season.
Wilson won't be alone in his pursuit of a new national record. He will be joined by Joshua Cooper and long hurdler Davian Booker.
Cooper is a mid-distance specialist. He has a 1:49.32 personal best over 800m and a 1:01.92 personal best over 500m (which ranks him eighth all-time). Booker is a 2024 NBNO 400mH Champion and a 2025 400mH NBNO Runner-Up. He certainly has strength and ran 1:02.18 over 500m last week.
Either of these boys could play upset.
So Can Quincy Do It?
On paper, 1:00.49 should be in Wilson's wheelhouse.
Last summer, Wilson ran 44.10 over the 400m distance at the Ed Murphey Classic. He owns an indoor personal best of 45.66 over the 400m distance.
This indoor season, Wilson opened up his indoor campaign with a 1:02.05 500m rust-buster at the Jim Mitchell Invitational. A week later, he ran 32.94 over 300m for an indoor personal best. That 300m time put him just outside the top 10 times in HS history.
If Wilson can get out of traffic early, he should be able to set a new HS National Record on Saturday.
