Quincy Wilson Runs Second-Fastest 500m In High School History
Quincy Wilson dominated the Boys Invitational 500m field at The VA Showcase, running 1:00.56 to become the second-fastest high schooler of all-time.
Quincy Wilson has done it again. Tonight, at the 2026 VA Showcase, Wilson came less than one-tenth of a second away from rewriting the high school record books, running 1:00.56 to become No. 2 all-time over 500m in prep history.
He joined Bayside (Va.) graduate and current South Carolina freshman Andrew Salvodon as one of the only two high schoolers to ever break 1:01, moving past former record holder Will Sumner (1:01.25).
For now, Salvodon's record of 1:00.49, which he posted at the 2025 VA Showcase, remains intact for another week.

In a small but electric four-man field, Wilson took it out hot in 21.53, before coming through 300m and 400m in 33.48 and 46.53. At that point, the senior and the University of Maryland commit had already built a one and a half second lead, and charged down the homestretch with the crowd on its feet.
With this performance, Wilson improves on his already decorated High School Resume. On the indoor oval alone, Wilson holds the 400m HS National Record (45.66), the 600m No. 2 All-Time mark (1:16.20), a Sprint Medley Relay National Record (3:22.50), a 4x400m National Record (3:09.44), and now sits No. 2 all-time in the 500m.
The time also moved him up to No. 11 on the World All-Time List.
