The Stockholm Diamond League delivered one of the most memorable meets of the 2026 season, highlighted by historic performances from Audrey Werro and Cooper Lutkenhaus, a home victory for Yared Nuguse in the men’s 1500m, and a surprise defeat for pole vault world record holder Armand Duplantis.

Werro produced the performance of the meet in the women’s 800m, running 1:53.98 to defeat Olympic champion Keely Hodgkinson and become the third-fastest woman in history over the distance. Lutkenhaus followed with a history-making performance of his own, winning the men’s 800m in 1:42.70 at just 17 years old to become the youngest Diamond League winner ever.

The men’s distance races were equally compelling. Nuguse edged Cameron Myers in a fast 1500m, while Soufiane El Bakkali returned one week after his world-leading performance in Rabat to win the men’s steeplechase. In the field events, Kurtis Marschall upset Duplantis in the pole vault, Jessica Schilder continued her dominance in the shot put, and Daniel Ståhl delighted the Swedish crowd with a victory in the discus.

Sprint victories went to Melissa Jefferson-Wooden in the women’s 100m, Zakithi Nene in the men’s 400m, and Kenny Bednarek in the men’s 200m. Hilary Kpatcha claimed the women’s long jump title, while Valarie Allman and Audrey Werro continued their strong Diamond League campaigns with additional victories.
