The Diamond League waits for no one, and Stockholm threw the season's clearest punch. Audrey Werro ran 1:53.98 to win the women's 800m - the third fastest time in history - beating Keely Hodgkinson. Keely had to settle for silver, but still came away with a new British record of 1:54.33. Kurtis Marschall cleared 5.90m to beat Mondo Duplantis at home, ending a 40-meet winning streak and handing the Swede his first loss in nearly three years. Cooper Lutkenhaus (who is just 17 years old by the way) won the men's 800m in 1:42.70 - the youngest Diamond League winner the circuit has ever seen.

That was Sunday. On Wednesday, the season pulls into Bislett.

Karsten Warholm contests his second 400m hurdles of the 2026 season at the stadium where he set the world record. Gout Gout - the 18-year-old who broke the U20 200m world record this year in a clocking of 19.67 seconds (which is still the world lead) - makes his Diamond League debut, and will race the likes of Letsile Tebogo. Wanyonyi and Lutkenhaus will meet for the first time, and Andreas Almgren is aiming for something no European has done before.

Here is what to watch.

Warholm, Dos Santos Meet in the 400m Hurdles

On July 1, 2021, Warholm ran 46.70 and broke Kevin Young's 400m hurdles world record - a mark that stood for 29 years. A month later he ran 45.94 in Tokyo to take the Olympic gold and lower the record again.

Oslo is another chance for him to do something special.

It comes at a moment that asks a question. Alison Dos Santos beat Warholm over the 300m hurdles in Shanghai on May 16. He beat him again in Xiamen a week later. 

Warholm has won seven of his ten Diamond League appearances at this stadium and Wednesday is where the 2026 season will give more answers to the shape it's in.

In his Diamond League Debut, Gout Gout Takes on Tebogo

All there is to say is - game on. Tebogo won the Paris 2024 Olympic 200m title in 19.46 seconds when he was just 21 years old - the fifth-fastest time in history. Early this year, at 18, Gout Gout ran 19.67 seconds to set a new under-20 world record. The performance also broke both the Australian and Oceanian senior records. For context, Usain Bolt had an under-20 best of 19.93.

Wednesday is Gout Gout's Diamond League debut, Tebogo is the man across the lanes, and they will also be joined by Courtney Lindsey and Alexander Ogando. But the contest at the front has a particular geometry. They are scheduled to meet again at the Prefontaine Classic in Eugene on July 4, so naturally, Oslo is just the first chapter of the story.

Wanyonyi and Lutkenhaus, At Last

Emmanuel Wanyonyi, the 2024 Paris Olympic champion, was supposed to race Lutkenhaus in Stockholm on Sunday. He and his partner welcomed a baby girl on Friday, and he withdrew. Lutkenhaus took the win in 1:42.70.

Now Wanyonyi is in Oslo. So is Lutkenhaus. So is Marco Arop, whom Lutkenhaus beat just a few days ago. So is Max Burgin, who beat Wanyonyi in Rabat. Djamel Sedjati, Mohamed Attaoui and Gabriel Tual are also in the field.

Wanyonyi's 1:41.11 personal best is the second-fastest 800m in history. Lutkenhaus is the World Indoor champion and the U18 world record holder at 1:42.27. Their meeting at Bislett is the first of their careers.

The 800m is moving at a pace that is hard to anticipate, and Oslo is where it lands next.

Julien Alfred is Back in the 100m Start Line

Julien Alfred won the Paris 2024 Olympic 100m in 10.72 seconds - Saint Lucia's first Olympic medal in any sport, at any Games. She has not raced a Diamond League 100m in 2026 yet.

On Sunday in Stockholm, Jefferson-Wooden - the reigning double world champion - won the women's 100m. Amy Hunt finished second. Patrizia van der Weken finished third. Jefferson-Wooden is not in Oslo, but Hunt and van der Weken are.

Hunt won World silver over 200m in Tokyo last summer and broke the 11-second barrier for the first time in her career just a few days ago and van der Weken set a personal best in the same race. Both arrive at Bislett looking for the same thing: a result against the Olympic 100m champion.

Alfred has already raced Jefferson-Wooden once this season. In Rome on June 4, she won the women's 200m in 21.93, with Jefferson-Wooden second. The 100m question stays open and Wednesday is where she opens it. 

Andreas Almgren Looks To Do Something Big in the 5000m

Last June, at the Stockholm Diamond League, Andreas Almgren ran 12:44.27 in the 5000m and broke the European record.

What he wants now is something no European has done. Only six men in history have run under 12 minutes and 40 seconds in the event - Joshua Cheptegei, Hagos Gebrhiwet, Kenenisa Bekele, Yomif Kejelcha, Haile Gebrselassie and Daniel Komen.

The Bislett field is built for this attempt. Berihu Aregawi, a two-time Diamond League champion. Grant Fisher, who took the Paris 2024 Olympic bronze over both 5000m and 10,000m and holds the world indoor records over 3000m and 5000m. Isaac Kimeli, Jacob Krop, Nico Young and Biniam Mehary complete a field with ten of last season's fifteen fastest 5000m runners entered.

Karalis and the Pole Vault, Without Duplantis

For three years, the pole vault had one question: how high does Mondo Duplantis go? He had won 40 consecutive competitions since the Monaco Diamond League in July 2023. He had broken the world record nine times across that streak.

On Sunday in Stockholm, the streak ended. Kurtis Marschall cleared 5.90m and Duplantis, 5.80m.

Duplantis is not in Oslo on Wednesday.

Three days after the loss nobody thought possible, the field reorganizes. Emmanouil Karalis - who cleared 6.17m at the Greek Indoor Championships in February to become the second-highest pole vaulter in history - headlines. Marschall is also in the field, fresh off Stockholm. So are Sam Kendricks, Renaud Lavillenie - the man whose world record Duplantis broke in 2020 - Sondre Guttormsen and Menno Vloon.

Also Worth Watching

The Dream Mile is the meeting's signature event since the early 1980s. Hicham El Guerrouj ran 3:44.90 in 1997 - the meeting record, still standing nearly thirty years later. Cameron Myers is in the field alongside Yared Nuguse, Jake Wightman, Timothy Cheruiyot, Isaac Nader and Azeddine Habz. Nuguse's personal best is faster than the meeting record.

The men's triple jump features Jaydon Hibbert and Andy Díaz Hernández.

Ziyi Yan, who just a few weeks ago produced the second-farthest throw in history in the women's javelin, at just 18 years old, comes in to lead the field with a mark of 71.74m.

The Bislett Games is the sixth Diamond League of 2026, and the third in seven days.
