The London Diamond League is set to deliver another thrilling day of world-class track and field, and the men's 100m is one of the marquee events on the schedule. The race serves as another chapter in an emerging rivalry, featuring several of the same stars who squared off at both the Monaco Diamond League and the Prefontaine Classic.
Reigning world champion Oblique Seville headlines the field alongside 60m indoor world champion Jordan Anthony and NCAA champion Kayinsola Ajayi. Great Britain's Zharnel Hughes and Jeremiah Azu will also look to capitalize on the home crowd, making this one of the deepest sprint fields of the weekend.
While the entire field is capable of producing something special, much of the attention will be on Seville, Anthony, and Ajayi.

Oblique Seville: The World Champion to Beat
Oblique Seville enters London with plenty of momentum. The reigning world champion and current world leader in the 100m is coming off an impressive Diamond League victory in Monaco, where he finished ahead of Jordan Anthony.
However, Seville also has added motivation after suffering a defeat to Kayinsola Ajayi at the Prefontaine Classic just weeks ago. With another opportunity to settle the score, expect the Jamaican star to come into London determined to reaffirm his status as the man to beat.
Jordan Anthony: Searching for the Outdoor Breakthrough
Jordan Anthony continues to trend in the right direction as he looks for his signature outdoor performance. After dominating the indoor season en route to a world title over 60 meters, expectations have been high for the American sprinter to carry that success into the 100m.
His season-best is 9.91 and he clocked 9.92 in Monaco showing he's getting closer. While the breakthrough victory hasn't arrived just yet, Anthony appears to be building toward a statement performance. London could be the race where everything clicks.
Kayinsola Ajayi: The NCAA Champion Riding High
Few athletes have enjoyed a better stretch of racing than Kayinsola Ajayi.
The Nigerian standout captured the NCAA title with a wind-aided 9.72 before carrying that confidence into the Prefontaine Classic, where he defeated a loaded professional field on the same Hayward Field track where he claimed his collegiate crown.
Now comes another challenge. With victories comes added attention, but Ajayi has shown little concern for expectations. After nearly every race, his message remains the same: execute his race plan. If he does that again in London, another upset could be on the horizon.
With a world champion, an indoor world champion, an NCAA champion, and two home favorites all in the same race, the men's 100m has all the ingredients for one of the highlights of the London Diamond League.
