Diamond League London 2026 had multiple storylines coming in, but Josh Kerr and Project 222 took center stage. The question coming in was simple, "Could Josh Kerr set the mile world record?"

Kerr cemented himself into the record books with ease.

The British track star ran a 3:42.66, easily surpassing the 3:43 he needed to break a record that's lasted through more than 25 years of track-and-field.

However, other races also took saw significant feats. Women's discus throw was the first event of the day, which saw Cierra Jackson break the Diamond League record with a 71.72 to take home first place against world leader Valarie Sion.

Julien Alfred also continued her incredible 2026 campaign with another victory in the women's 200m in London.
