The first record of the 2026 AAU Junior Olympic Games has been set!

There's a new Junior Olympic leader in the 13-year-old Boys 3000m racewalk. Sam Gibb of Elgin Sharks Track Club finishes with a 14:22.37, surpassing the previous record of 14:44.76.

The record had stood for nearly 20 years before Gibb surpassed it. He beat second-placed Saiin Patel by nearly two minutes in Des Moines, Iowa.

What Was The Previous Record For The 13-Year-Old Boys 3000m Racewalk?

Tyler Sorensen from Lafayette set the previous record of 14:44.76 at the 2007 Junior Olympic Track And Field Games in Knoxville, Tennessee.

Sam Gibb surpassed the record by more than 22 seconds, shattering a time that had been untouched for almost two decades.
