Diamond League action returns for the first time in over a month, when the world's top track and field athletes will meet in Lausanne.

Diamond League Lausanne 2026 marks the start of the final stretch in the Diamond League circuit, and there’s plenty of storylines to watch in Switzerland.

Competition starts on August 20 with the male pole vault and No. 1 ranked Mondo Duplantis returning to center stage. Masai Russell also returns in the women’s 100m hurdles, where she has been historically dominant throughout the season.

Those are just two of multiple storylines coming to Lausanne this week. Here’s why you should watch Diamond League Lausanne 2026 live on FloTrack on August 20-21.

Can Audrey Werro Deliver A Home Victory?

Few athletes enter Lausanne with more momentum than Audrey Werro. The Swiss star has become one of the world's elite 800m runners, and she'll have a chance to earn the biggest win of her career in front of a home crowd.

She has the best career mark of any competitor in the 800m, but with a mix of top 10-ranked runners beside her, she’ll have to be at her best to deliver a win at home.

Mondo Duplantis Headlines The City Event

Before the stadium action begins on August 21, Lausanne stages its unique city-center pole vault competition. Mondo Duplantis returns looking for another spectacular performance, but he'll face a strong field, including Emmanouil Karalis, Kurtis Marschall, Sam Kendricks and Renaud Lavillenie. With Duplantis regularly pushing the world record higher, every appearance becomes must-watch television.

Diamond League Final Spots On The Line

As the Diamond League season comes to a close, Lausanne represents a pivotal opportunity to earn valuable series points. With only a handful of meets remaining before the Diamond League Final in Brussels, every event carries importance for athletes trying to qualify or improve their seeding.

High-Powered Women's 200m Field

The women’s 200m in Lausanne features a deep field, led by two-time 200m World Champion and the second-fastest woman in history, Shericka Jackson. The Jamaican star will face reigning world silver medalist Amy Hunt, who won four gold medals at last week's European Athletics Championships. Olympic bronze medalist Brittany Brown and world finalist Anavia Battle will also contend, while Nigeria’s Favour Ofili and American Kayla White will add even more speed to a stacked lineup.

Field Events Could Produce Record Marks

Beyond the pole vaults, Lausanne boasts strong competitions in the men's long jump, triple jump and javelin, as well as the women's javelin. Historically, Athletissima has produced some of the season's best field-event performances, and the combination of elite talent and favorable conditions makes another series of big marks a possibility.
