Jakob Ingebrigtsen Will Make His 2026 Diamond League Return In Silesia 1500m VS Cole Hocker

The Jakob Ingebrigtsen Return Tour continues in Silesia, as he is expected to race the 1500m and face-off with 2024 Olympic Champion Cole Hocker. 

Ingebrigtsen opened his season at the European Athletic Championships, and collected Gold in the 5,000m last week. It was his first race since recovering from an Achilles Injury that forced him to undergo surgery in February. He took victory in 13:15.29.

US Audiences can watch both of his upcoming race at the Silesia Diamond League Meeting (AUG 23) and at the Zurich Diamond League Meeting (AUG 27), LIVE on FloTrack.

The Silesia Diamond League 1500m will be Ingrebrigtsen's first 1500m race since the 2025 World Outdoor Championships. Ingebrigtsen finished eighth in his preliminary heat and failed to advance to the semi-final round. Prior to that event, Ingebrigtsen had not raced since the World Indoor Championships that saw him take Gold in the 1500m. Two drastically different results at the two peaks of the season.

Now, Ingebrigtsen will prepare for his first Wanda Diamond League race since the 2024 season and hunt for his 22nd victory on the Diamond League circuit. However, he will have steep competition with 2024 Olympic 1500m Champ and 2025 World 5K Champ, Cole Hocker, expected to compete.

Hocker ran an American Indoor Record of 3:45.94 and won the Indoor American Championship over 3000m. He most recently finished sixth in the mile at the 2026 Prefontaine Classic before entering his most recent training block.

He is now overseas and is ramping up for the remaining legs of the Wanda Diamond League season before preparing for the World Ultimate Championships during the second week of September. There, Hocker will have the choice of the 5000m and 1500m.

But prior to that, we will see two duals in the 1500m between Hocker and Ingebrigtsen with action kicking off at the 2026 Wanda Diamond League: Silesia (POL) this week.
