Euro summer is soon coming to a close. And as it does every year, some of the last big words belong to Zürich. Weltklasse - held at Letzigrund Stadion since 1928 - is one of the oldest and most celebrated one-day meets in athletics, a track where world records tend to fall in front of a sold-out crowd of nearly 26,000. On Thursday it delivers the fourteenth and last regular stop of the 2026 Wanda Diamond League - one week ahead of the two-day Final in Brussels on September 4-5.

The lineup delivers. Audrey Werro stays home in Switzerland after a win in Lausanne. Masai Russell meets Tobi Amusan and Ditaji Kambundji in one of the deepest women's 100m hurdles fields of the year. Faith Cherotich and Peruth Chemutai continue to chase barriers, while Jakob Ingebrigtsen returns for another 1500m looking to better his fourth-place finish in Silesia. Kenneth Bednarek meets Andre De Grasse over 200m and Leonardo Fabbri meets Joe Kovacs in the shot put circle again.

Here is what to watch.

Nuguse Joins the Silesia Podium in a Reloaded 1500m

The Silesia men's 1500m delivered a shock of the season. Ethan Strand took the win over Jakob Ingebrigtsen and Cole Hocker, crossing the finish line in 3:30.77. Koech was second in 3:31.14. Hocker took third in 3:31.16 and Ingebrigtsen finished fourth in 3:31.19 - his first 1500m in nearly a year, coming back from injury.

In Zürich, they regroup - and the field around them gets a boost.

The Silesia crew returning: Strand comes back. Koech, Hocker and Ingebrigtsen all reload. Nader gets another chance. Vincent Ciattei and Hobbs Kessler both enter, alongside Jake Heyward and Samuel Pihlström.

The additions: Yared Nuguse (3:27.80 PB), the Paris 2024 Olympic bronze medallist, is one of the headliners. Azeddine Habz (3:27.49 PB) lines up, as does Timothy Cheruiyot (3:28.28 PB), the 2019 world champion.

Together, the field brings six sub-3:28 career bests to one start line, but only one man will get to the tape first.

The Women's 800m Rematch Loses Some Key Players

Keely Hodgkinson has withdrawn, so another Werro-Hodgkinson showdown must wait, but Werro still has plenty to run for.

The 22-year-old Swiss star arrives as the third-fastest women's 800m runner in history. She won in Zürich in last year's Diamond League Final, edging out Britain's Georgia Hunter Bell by five hundredths of a second.

Hunter Bell is back. The 2025 world silver medallist at this distance owns a 1:54.90 career best and is looking to get in the mix. Femke Broeders-Bol, who has been chasing Werro all season, lines up with a 1:55.41 Dutch national record which she set in Lausanne last Friday, nearly edging out the 2026 European champion herself.

Home athletes Valentina Rosamilia and Veronica Vancardo will draw local support. Jessica Hull (1:57.15 PB) and Saida Tsehaye (1:56.92 PB) will also be there, but Lilian Odira has sadly had to take a step back from the race.

Hodgkinson is gone. Odira is gone. Werro is home. The Brussels Final still waits and Thursday is now just the tune-up. 

A Number of the Tokyo Final Meet Again: Russell, Amusan and Kambundji in the Women's 100m Hurdles

The women's 100m hurdles race at Weltklasse lands with world record implications.

Masai Russell has been hunting the 12.12 world record all summer. The American number one opened her season in 12.14 - 0.02 off the mark, and has since dropped a number of meeting records, including in Eugene and Monaco. Tobi Amusan, the world record holder herself, has answered back with wins in Rabat and Paris.

Then there is Ditaji Kambundji, the reigning 2025 world champion, having beaten both Russell and Amusan in a stunning Tokyo final last September. In front of a home audience at Letzigrund, she is the crowd's favourite.

Danielle Williams (12.31 PB), Ackera Nugent (12.24 PB), Alaysha Johnson (12.31 PB) and newly crowned European champion Nadine Visser (12.28 PB) will also be running.

Olympic champion, world champion and the world record holder - this is going to be fast.

Four Americans Join Cherotich and Chemutai in the Steeplechase

Faith Cherotich and Peruth Chemutai have gone head-to-head a few times this season and on Thursday, they meet again in Zürich.

Cherotich is coming off a golden six weeks. She won the Prefontaine Classic in Eugene on July 4 in 8:51.74. Three weeks later, she took Commonwealth Games gold in Glasgow in 9:01.76 - with Chemutai third in the same race. Last Friday, she finished second in Lausanne in 9:01.90, chasing Winfred Yavi's meeting record.

Chemutai - the Tokyo 2020 Olympic champion - owns the faster season best of the two at 8:51.06 and the faster career best at 8:48.03.

Behind them, an American contingent of four brings serious depth. Emma Coburn (9:02.35 PB) - a former world champion - laces up with Lexy Halladay (9:08.35 PB), Gabrielle Jennings (9:06.61 PB) and Gracie Hyde (9:16.61 PB)

Thursday, the water jump decides.

Bednarek and De Grasse Meet Over the Half-Lap

Kenny Bednarek arrives in Zürich with the field's fastest season best at 19.69 and with a recent podium finish in the Silesia 100m. Andre De Grasse, the Tokyo 2020 Olympic 200m champion, brings a career best 19.62 and has been building all season to a signature moment. Sinesipho Dambile, who took second last Friday in Lausanne in 19.98, has a personal best of 19.74 seconds.

Bryan Levell (19.64 PB), Reynier Mena (19.63 PB) and José Figueroa (19.76 SB) are also in the field.

Letzigrund's straightaway rewards strong closers. This field has several.

A Number of World Champions Chase Fabbri in the Shot Put

Leonardo Fabbri is in Zürich after throwing 22.08m in Silesia and holds a 22.74 season best.

Joe Kovacs - a two-time world champion - owns the biggest career best in the field at 23.23m and will be chasing a win. Tom Walsh, the 2017 world champion, brings a 22.90 personal best and years of major-championship pedigree.

Behind them, the American charge is solid. Jordan Geist (22.44m PB), Payton Otterdahl (22.59m PB), Adrian Piperi (22.29m PB) and Roger Steen (22.11m PB) all take to the ring.

Fabbri won the last one. The Americans look to answer back.

Also Worth Watching

In the field, Nicola Olyslagers lines up with Yaroslava Mahuchikh in the high jump, alongside Eleanor Patterson and Yuliia Levchenko.

Alison dos Santos arrives on the track after producing the sixth-fastest 400m hurdles time in history to take the win over Karsten Warholm in Silesia. In the women's event, Emma Zapletalová meets Anna Cockrell and Olympic and former world champion Dalilah Muhammad.

Reigning Olympic champion Emmanuel Wanyonyi will look to take the lead in a loaded 800m field. Moving up in distance, Grant Fisher, Graham Blanks, Abdihamid Nur, Parker Wolfe and Nico Young are in the 5000m.

Melissa Jefferson-Wooden is joined by Sha'Carri Richardson, Julien Alfred and Amy Hunt over 100m.

Zurich is the last chance before Brussels - and this year (as always) the field is bringing it.
