Every Brooks XC Championship Winner Ever

After the best high school cross country runners in the country emerge from the Brooks XC Regional Championships, they meet for a winner-take-all matchup at the 2026 Brooks XC Championships presented by Fleet Feet at Balboa Park in San Diego, California, on Saturday, Dec. 12.

Eighteen states have produced at least one boy’s or girl’s champion, with 13 states having been home to multiple champions. Unsurprisingly, California sits as the most prolific state, with eight boys and 10 girls winners, seven more than the next highest state.

The location for the race has flipped between its origin in San Diego and intermittent races in Orlando, Florida. The Balboa Park’s figure eight design and number of hills and mounds make it a much more challenging course than the flat 5,000 meters of the Orlando course.
