Things We Missed: Hillary Holt and The Longest Streak
It’s already Wednesday afternoon and while we’d like to start setting up the eight camera fixture for the Texas State Outdoor Championships, there’s still some loose ends from the weekend we’d like to tie up.

Since, in general, no one reads the addendum, we put together a part two of our Weekend Recap to highlight some accolades that otherwise may have gone unnoticed. There's more we'd like to write about disqualifications and twerking, but we're literally out the door.

Let Us Introduce You to Hillary Holt

I kid you not: We originally had her as an honorable mention in recap.

While the Nike Oregon Project headlined the Oregon Twilight, the girl who stole the show was the College of Idaho’s Hillary Holt. We saw Holt back at the Stanford Invite where she doubled in the 800/1500m to run 2:09.37 and 4:18.82, respectively. But if we’ve learned anything about the NAIA this season, it’s that we can’t pretend like it doesn’t like it doesn’t exist.

Why does everyone keep forgetting that The Master’s John Gilbertson ran 28:30?

So when Holt takes the win in the 1500m and runs 4:11, we ask... who?

All you need to know is that she came into this season with a 4:30.10 personal best in the 1500m and now she has the USATF “A” standard, she's the fifth fastest among all college divisions, and the fourteenth fastest in the U.S.

Even as we look at her TFRRS profile, we still don’t know what to make of her run. We’d love to learn more about Holt so if you know her, please contact us.

The Longest Streak Debate Continues

When someone asks, “What’s the longest conference winning streak in track and field?” we have no idea where to start. So rather than look at the history of every single conference
in college and high school, we just crowdsourced the question. Thank you, internet.

We received a number of emails about some impressive streaks, but two stood out. The second to last email and what we thought was going to be the longest streak came from Raynee DeGrio
.

Mitch,
The University of St Thomas men (a Division 3 school in St Paul, MN) have won 29 consecutive Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) indoor championships. Oh yeah, only 29 indoor MIAC Indoor championships have been held...

Twenty-nine in a row is hard to beat... unless you’re North Central College. In the wee hours of the morning, Tim Johnson
sent us an email (which was also the last one we received) about the powerhouse from Naperville, IL.

Mitch,
I do not attend this school, but my father's alma mater, North Central College (Naperville, IL), has won the CCIW Cross Country Conference Championships 39 times in a row and counting. Feel free to count for yourself:

Remember that time that I said twenty-nine would be hard to beat? Yeah, about that. If you know of a team (high school or college) that has a longer streak, email us
(again).
