David Rudisha Injured, Usain Bolt Wins At Ostrava Golden Spike
Usain Bolt and David Rudisha were the biggest headliners after Tuesday’s Ostrava Golden Spike meeting in the Czech Republic, but the two World record holders made news for very different reasons, one good, one bad.
FULL RESULTS
Bolt Cruises In 200m In Poor Conditions
Usain Bolt closed out the meet with a controlled 20.13 victory in the 200m in rainy conditions, a new season’s best for the six-time Olympic champion. A sub-20 time was out of the question given the wet and chilly weather (mid-50s), but overall Bolt leaves Ostrava unscathed after taking a step in the right direction toward August’s World Championships.
Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for Rudisha.
Rudisha DNF With Injury In 600m
The fastest man in history over 800m pulled out of the 600m at Ostrava just 20 seconds into the race, grimacing while grabbing his right leg. Alas, Rudisha has said the injury is not serious.
Very unfortunate that i pulled my muscle just after 100m. But its not a very serious injury, thank you all for your support. @ZlataTretra

Poland’s Adam Kszczot’s won the race in 1:16.02.
In other news, Poland’s Marcin Lewandowski upset Asbel Kiprop in the men’s 1K, kicking past the Olympic champion over the final 50 meters to take the win in a World-leading 2:17.25.

Kiprop ran from the front for a majority of the race, ultimately paying the price as he faded coming down the home stretch. He’ll look to quickly make up for today’s loss in the loaded Bowerman Mile at Saturday’s Pre Classic.
Asafa Powell won the men’s 100m in 10.04, easily outdistancing 2nd place finisher Isiah Young in 10.13.
2012 5,000m Olympic silver medalist Dejen Gebremeskel of Ethiopia won a tactical men’s 5K in 13:23.72.
