When current Buffalo Bills football player Marquise Goodwin made the announcement that he would be attempting to make the 2016 Olympic team as a long jumper, he sure wasn't messing around.
Tonight at the Rod McCravy Memorial in Lexington, Goodwin jumped 7.99m on his final attempt of the evening - ultimately winning the meet. His indoor personal best is 8.14m from 2011.
As the reigning Olympic Trials Champion with a personal best jump of 8.33m, this comes as no surprise. Since graduating from the University of Texas and joining the Bills organization, Goodwin returned to the track scene just last spring and finished fourth at the USATF Championships and earned the silver medal at the Pan American Games.
The only surprising thing seen tonight would be seeing the Buffalo Bills shirt he wore to accomplish the feat. He may have to wear something different come Olympic trials time.
