COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS (09-March) -- Will Williams' final hour, all-time personal best of 8.19m/26-10.5 to win the NCAA DI Indoor Championships long jump tonight was the stuff that dreams are made of.

The Texas A&M senior, runner-up in the long jump one year ago, took the lead in the competition on his very first go with a mark of 7.98m.

But the lead was quickly overtaken by Charles Brown of Texas Tech, who jumped 7.97m on his second try.

Brown's mark held the top spot in the standings for three more rounds until multi-threat athlete Grant Holloway of Florida found his groove after three fouls and put up a mark of 8.13m with just one round remaining. The sophomore opted to skip his final jump to compete in the 60m hurdles prelim, an event in which he holds the collegiate record.

Holloway's departure from the competition was just the spark that Williams needed to launch a huge PB of 8.19, which set a new facility record and Texas A&M school record. Williams had never jumped further than 7.99m before tonight; he recorded that mark to win the SEC Indoor Championships in February.

He has only jumped further than 7.90m a total of four times indoors, three of which occurred at tonight's competition.
