Below are FloTrack’s top five NCAA male performers of 2019:

5. Mondo Duplantis, LSU

Other than a stunning loss at NCAA outdoors, Mondo Duplantis lived up to the gigantic hype surrounding his lone season at LSU. Mondo set collegiate pole vault records both indoors (5.92m) and outdoors (6.00m) before finishing off his 2019 campaign with a silver medal at the World Championships. He did all that before turning 20-years-old.

4. Morgan McDonald, Wisconsin

McDonald dominated the distance events in 2019 with his ferocious kick leading to three NCAA crowns between indoor and outdoor. The Aussie closed the NCAA outdoor 5k in 52.91 seconds.

3. Bryce Hoppel, Kansas

The Kansas junior kept upping the ante all the way to the 800m World Championships final, where the 22-year-old finished fourth in his 25th half-mile race of the season. It was an incredible end to a year that saw Hoppel go undefeated against collegiate competition in the 800m.

2. Divine Oduduru, Texas Tech

The best name in track and field was the best sprinter in the NCAA for 2019 as Divine Odururu swept the 100m/200m in Austin after winning the 200m title indoors. The Texas Tech star’s 9.86/19.73 one-day double is the greatest in NCAA history and second-best of all-time.

1. Grant Holloway, Florida

From the indoor and outdoor NCAA campaigns to October’s World Championships, Grant Holloway put together nine months of spectacular performances that included four NCAA titles, four collegiate records, an American record, and in his final act, the 110m hurdles world title in Doha. The 2019 Bowerman winner left a legacy of dominance in the NCAA that collegians will be chasing for generations to come.
