The Program: Florida (Episode 2)

Feb 25, 2014

Our most emotional and heartfelt episode yet, Eddie Lovett reveals to the world the story of a man who's been forced to overcome adversity his entire life to be successful. A former high school football star, Lovett found himself at a crossroads when his career was cut short because of a serious football injury. Lovett was able to overcome and refocus his athletic efforts to track and field where he would set a state record in the hurdles and become a HS national champion. During this time, he would rekindle his relationship with his former professional baseball playing father; a relationship that had been non-existent for most of his life. Not long after, Eddie's father (who lived in the Virgin Islands) was murdered. Lovett once again had to overcome. He would use his personal tragedy to motivate himself athletically. He became determined to be the best hurdler on the planet. In 2013, he won the men's 60-meter hurdles title at the NCAA Indoor Championships with a meet-record 7.50, notching a new school record and racing the fourth-fastest time in NCAA history.
