Rebecca Johnston, the 2008 Canadian 800 meter champion, is trying to reach the World Championships in the 800 for Canada. Last year she won nationals but did not run the standard needed to make the team. Johnston will have to chase the standard if she wants a a spot on the 2009 IAAF World Championship team.
