Crack Recap of 2011 Boston Marathon madness

Apr 18, 2011

Ryan Fenton, Paul Michel and Harrison Holtz recap the 2011 Boston Marathon, the fastest marathon ever run on the men's side! Geoffrey Mutai won the race in a World Record time of 2:03:02, followed by Moses Mosop in 2:03:06. Ryan Hall finished 4th in 2:04:58, bettering the American Record by 40 seconds. Unfortunately the Boston Marathon course is not certified for international or American records to be set. In the women's race Caroline Kilel won the 2011 Boston Marathon in 2:22:36 only two seconds behind second place finisher American Desiree Davila. Davila ran 2:22:38 which was the fastest time by an American by 5 seconds, bettering Joan Benoit Samuelson's record of 2:22:43 that was set in 1983. Kara Goucher finished 5th in her first marathon since her pregnancy almost 7 months ago running 2:24:52, just over a minute off of her personal best. Kim Smith dropped out around 16 miles after leading over half of the 2011 Boston Marathon and being on pace to run one of the course's fastest times ever. It was a great day in Boston!
