The meet is the seventh of what will be 11 Gold-level events on the 2024 Continental Tour schedule. It will bring elite track & field athletes to Finland from across the globe.

The Paavo Nurmi Games is just part of the Paavo Nurmi Festival, which is held in honor of legendary Finnish runner Paavo Nurmi, a nine-time Olympic gold medalist in the 1920s. The first Paavo Nurmi Games was held in 1957 as a 60th birthday present for Nurmi.
Since 2020, the meet has been a Gold event on the World Athletics Continental Tour.
Men’s competitions at the 2024 Paavo Nurmi Games will include races of 100 meters, 800 meters, 1,500 meters, 3,000-meter steeplechase, 110-meter hurdles, 400-meter hurdles, javelin and wheelchair racing.
Women will compete in the 800 meters, 100-meter hurdles, high jump, triple jump, pole vault, hammer throw and wheelchair racing.

About World Athletics
