The 2024 Irena Szewinska Memorial will see many of the world’s best track & field athletes head to Poland on June 20. Here’s the schedule and what to know.
The Continental Tour Bydgoszcz – Irena Szewinska Memorial is the eighth of 11 Gold-level events on the 2024 Continental Tour schedule, and it will bring many standout track & field athletes to Poland on June 20.
The inaugural Irena Szewinska Memorial was held in 2019, replacing what previously was the European Athletics Festival, which had been held annually since 2001. It became part of the World Athletics Continental Tour in 2020.

The Irena Szewinska Memorial honors Szewinska, who excelled in short-distance running events and the long jump. She is the only athlete in history to have set world records at 100, 200 and 400 meters. She finished her career for Poland with seven Olympic medals (in five trips), including three gold (1964, 1968, 1976).
The Irena Szewinska Memorial is being held at Zdzisław Krzyszkowiak Stadium, a multi-purpose venue in Bydgoszcz, Poland, that has room for more than 20,000 spectators. It’s used primarily for soccer and track & field events.
The men’s competitions taking place at this year’s Irena Szewinska Memorial are races of 800 and 1,500 meters, 110- and 400-meter hurdles, pole vault, shot put and the hammer throw.
Women will compete in the 100-, 400- and 1,500-meter races and the 100- and 400-meter hurdles.
