More history is ready to be made at the 45th London Marathon, which will take place on April 27. It has the potential to be the greatest marathon ever.

During the marathon, many top athletes have reached milestones; in fact, 44 Guinness World Records were broken at last year's marathon.

Winner of the female-only race, Peres Jepchirchir, was responsible for one of those records, running a 2:16:16 time, surpassing Mary Keitany, who held the previous record of 2:17:01.

One thing that every runner has in common, whether they finish first or last, is that submitting an entry is required to qualify for such an event.

Although there are great competitors in the 26.2-mile race every year, this time around, it feels like the entries have gotten better with Olympic medalists Sifan Hassan, Tamirat Tola, Emile Cairess, and Alex Yee making his marathon debut, to name a few.
