Dylan Schubert Wins Thrilling 10K, William Amponsah D2 Record At Bryan Clay
Dylan Schubert won the 10K at the Bryan Clay Invitational in a photo finish over Ernest Cheruiyot.

Dylan Schubert has had an up and down campaign in 2024-25, but at the 2025 Bryan Clay Invitational - he may have found a step.
Schubert won the 2025 Bryan Clay 10,000m Invite with a 27:45.63, narrowly beating Ernest Cheruiyot by just two hundredths of a second (27:45.65).

The Furman fifth year put himself in line early. A gap formed with three laps to go, but Schubert quickly responded to the leaders' move. He then clipped a 58.61 last 400m to edge out ahead of Cheruiyot.
"I told myself, if I can hang with one to go then I'm going to be a big threat," Schubert told FloTrack following the race. "It was really hard with even six laps to go, it just kept winding up and winding up and I just tried to hang and hang..."
For Schubert, the run comes on the heels of a disappointing indoor track season. After placing third at the NCAA XC Championship, Schubert missed most of the indoor season with injury. Thus, this 10,000m is Schubert's first race since February.
Back in fourth, just two seconds back from the leader, William Amponsah made history in his West Texas A&M singlet. Amponsah ran 27:47.93, and in doing so he shattered the NCAA DII Record and the Ghana National Record.
In total, five men dipped below the previous Bryan Clay Meet Record of 27:51.26 (Alex Phillip 2024).
