Top Storylines to Watch at the Paris Diamond League 2025

The 2025 Paris Diamond League is set to deliver some of the season’s most exciting matchups across sprints, hurdles, and distance events. With world champions, Olympic medalists, and rising stars all making up the list of competitors, fans can expect unforgettable performances.

Women’s 200m

This race is a must-watch showdown, packed with talent and compelling narratives. Anavia Battle remains undefeated in the 200m this year and has no intention of starting a losing streak. Dina Asher-Smith looks to be peaking at the perfect time — she recently ran a season’s best of 10.93 in the 100m in Stockholm, finishing second behind training partner Julien Alfred. We'll see how that speed carries over to her signature event, the 200m. Deajah Stevens is also on the comeback trail, recently clocking 22.18 at the Star Athletics Sprint Series — her fastest time since 2021.

Women’s 400m

This race features Olympic star power with Paris Games gold and silver medalists Marileidy Paulino and Salwa Eid Naser, both consistently running sub-50 seconds this season. Joining them is world indoor champion Amber Anning, along with rising star Isabella Whittaker, who just signed with On and is eyeing her third consecutive win. This is shaping up to be a thrilling contest.

Men’s 110m Hurdles

The Flamingo is back — Grant Holloway headlines a stacked 110m hurdles field so deep it will be split into two heats. Notable contenders include Dylan Beard, whose momentum has been building since his Grand Slam win in Kingston; Trey Cunningham, known for his precision and speed; and Jamal Britt, a multi-dimensional hurdler with the tools to upset anyone.

Men’s 5000m

Nico Young returns to the 5000m after setting the American record with a blistering 12:45.27. He’ll be joined by Graham Blanks, who recently dropped a huge personal best of 12:48.20. These two are part of a new generation of Americans inching closer to East African dominance in the event. With the depth of this field, don't be surprised if a world record (currently 12:35.36, held by Joshua Cheptegei) comes under threat.

Women’s 100m Hurdles

This is one of the most unpredictable events on the schedule — high talent, razor-thin margins. Ackera Nugent is in top form, and newcomer Grace Stark is making waves. The field also features world record holder Tobi Amusan, 60mH world record holder and reigning indoor world champ Devynne Charlton, former American record holder Keni Harrison, and the highly talented Alaysha Johnson. Anyone could take it.

Men’s 400m Hurdles

Rai Benjamin is set for his third race of the season. He opened in Oslo with a 300m hurdles runner-up finish behind Karsten Warholm, who broke the world record in that newly sanctioned event. Just three days later, Benjamin dominated in Stockholm, running 46.54 — the 10th fastest time ever, a meet record, and a world lead. Remarkably, he appears to be in mid-season form already, showing no signs of rust. Picking up right where he left off in the Paris Olympic Games.
