Melissa Jefferson-Wooden Posts Historic 100m To Win USA Title
Melissa Jefferson-Wooden wins the 100m at USATF Championships in 10.65, tying as the fifth-fastest woman in US history.

Melissa Jefferson-Wooden’s undefeated season in the 100m continues at the USATF Outdoor Championships tonight.
After three impressive 100m wins in Grand Slam Track to begin her season and an emphatic victory over the reigning 100m Olympic Champion at the Prefontaine Classic, she earns her second USA 100m championship in historic fashion.
None of the pressure affected Jefferson-Wooden as she blasted out of the blocks and clearly separated from an elite field to run 10.65 (+0.4). That scorching time ties her with Marion Jones, Sha’Carri Richardson, and Shericka Jackson as the fifth-fastest woman to ever run the 100m

Three years ago, Jefferson-Wooden snatched the national title as a collegiate at Coastal Carolina. At the time, no one confidently picked her to win. Fast forward to today and she was the overwhelming favorite, especially with the defending World Champion, Sha'Carri Richardson, pulling out of the semifinals..
This is the fourth time Jefferson-Wooden has run under 10.80 seconds, demonstrating her superior consistency this season.
Melissa Jefferson-Wooden's Sub 10.80 Performances
- 10.75 (+2.4w) - Grand Slam Track Miami - May 2, 2025
- 10.73 (+1.4) - Grand Slam Track Philadelphia - June 1, 2025
- 10.75 (-1.5) - Prefontaine Classic - July 5, 2025
- 10.65 (+0.4) - 2025 USATF Outdoor Championships - August 1, 2025
Her outstanding performance helped her training partner, Kayla White, run a personal best of 10.84 and earn second place. White will join Jefferson-Wooden and Richardson at the World Championships. This marks the second year in a row that Star Athletics has three women competing at a major World Championship. Aleia Hobbs earned third place honors in a time of 10.92 to round out an extraordinary U.S. 100m team for the women.
On Sunday, Melissa Jefferson-Wooden will turn her attention to the 200m where she has emerged as one of the favorites to win. She will have the chance to complete the 100m and 200m double, which hasn't been in over 20 years on the women's side at the USATF Championships.
