2025 Cape Town Marathon Cancelled
24,000 athletes had entered to compete in the 2025 event, which was in the final year of a multi-year eval process to become a World Marathon Major in 2026.
With heavy winds in Cape Town, event organizers have cancelled the 2025 Cape Town Marathon due to concerns for athlete safety.
The 2025 elite field included eight Platinum Label athletes and 10 Gold Label athletes.

24,000 athletes had entered to compete in the 2025 event, which was in the final year of a multi-year evaluation process to become Africa's first World Marathon Major in 2026. The 2026 event is scheduled for May 24 and will also include the 2026 Abbott World Marathon Majors Marathon Tours & Travel Age Group World Championships.
