The 2025 Brooks XC Championships are finally getting underway with the South, Midwest and Northeast Championships slated for Saturday, November 29.

Ten boys and ten girls from each region, will qualify for the Brooks XC National Championships in San Diego on December 13. They'll join the twenty athletes already selected via the Fleet Feet Golden Tickets. Going into tomorrow, there are several athletes that you'll want to keep an eye on.

NJ MOC Champion Leah Starkey

Northeast Championship Meet Page

Leah Starkey has already made a name for herself as one of the best runner in New Jersey history. At the New Jersey Meet of Champions, she out-kicked Paige Sheppard to win the title - and ran 17:15 to post the third fastest time in Holmdel Park History.

That helped her rise to No. 12 in the COROS MileSplit50 National Rankings. 

Starkey has made her name in the Northeast, but now it's time to seriously establish herself as a national contender. She could do so by winning the Northeast Championship tomorrow.

She'll have to run through the likes Abby Hennessey (Westford Academy). Hennessy is a Massachusetts native - so she may know her way around Franklin Park well. She is currently ranked #15 in the MileSplit50 rankings.

She most recently won the MIAA Meet of Champions by over 40-seconds.

Evan Spreitzer, Florida State Champ

Evan Spreitzer may be one of the most under-the-radar boys this cross country season.

The Florida native has had a stellar season so far in 2025, with several straight wins in the back-half of the season. He most recently won the FHSAA 1A Cross Country State Championship with a 15:16 effort on Nov 22. He defeated the field by over 30-seconds.

Comparably, Marcelo Mantecon ran 15:03 to win the 3A state title. Earlier in the year, at the FSU Invitational, Spreitzer finished second to Mantecon, just eleven seconds back.

Could that translate to success for Spreitzer at the Brooks XC South Championship? Time will tell.

Michigan State Champ, Emma Hoffman

Midwest Championship Meet Page

Emma Hoffman is currently entered in the Brooks Midwest Championship - and she has enjoyed an incredible campaign so far. She has only suffered one loss, at the hands of US #1 Natasza Dudek. Before that, she was undefeated on the 2025 campaign with nine straight wins.

She capped off her state season with a win at the MHSAA LP Finals. She posted a season best of 16:20.52 at the Bulldog Invitational earlier this year.

Hoffman is currently ranked No. 7 in the COROS MileSplit50 Rankings. She has a lot of racing on her legs this season, but she could continue her red-hot campaign with another big win on Saturday. She finished 17th at the Midwest Championship in 2024, but will look to secure victory in 2025.

Athletes can qualify for the Brooks XC Championship 2025 through two ways: finishing in the top ten in their regional qualifier or by receiving a Golden Ticket invite.
