The Cuban triple jumper won her second straight World Indoor title, establishing herself as the woman to beat outdoors and carrying on Cuba's rich history of horizontal jumpers.
To do it, she had to beat a titan in Venezuela's Yulimar Rojas, who still holds the world record but has struggled to get back to top form in recent years. Rojas surprised to jump 14.86m for the silver, and might have jumped even farther had several of her jumps not been counted as fouls.
Check out our recap of the event and results below.
Venezula's Tokyo Olympic champion and world record holder Yulimar Rojas has the eyes of the stadium, but she fouls her first attempt.
Thea LaFond, the 2024 Olympic champion from Dominica, puts up a 14.30 but it's Leyanis Perez Hernandez of Cuba who leads following the first attempt with a 14.88m mark.
Perez Hernandez improves her lead to 14.95m on second attempt, as Rojas finally gets on the board with a 14.54m -- that places her 3rd as things stand. Top American Jasmine Moore sits in 6th with her 14.33m first attempt while her compatriot Ryann Porter will try to improve upon her 12.78m first-round showing.
Senegal's Saly Sarr doesn't have a global medal to her name yet, but she's looking in great position to get one sitting in runner-up behind Hernandez with a 14.58m best.
Rojas launches a rocket 14.86m to vault herself into silver position ahead of Sarr. It looks like she goes even farther on another attempt, but it's sadly a foul.
Can Rojas take the lead on her final jump? It's not to be, leaving Perez Hernandez as a consecutive World Indoor Champion. Sarr hangs on for the bronze.
