With over 45,000,000 views in just one day, chances are either you or someone you know has already seen MrBeast's new YouTube video, "100 Kids Vs World's Strongest Man!", which prominently features World 100m champion Melissa Jefferson-Wooden as its first matchup in a series of competitions pitting elite athletes against normal people. Though MrBeast's 444,000,000 subscribers no doubt brought attention and fanfare to the sport, Jefferson-Wooden's segment in the video was over in less than 100 seconds -- not many know the full story behind it.

The first evening session of the 2025 World Athletics Track and Field Championships is here, and some of the biggest names in the world will take to the track for qualifying while medals will be awarded in the men's shot put, women's 10,000m, and mixed 4x400m. Wet and humid conditions are expected as we'll get a glimpse of Noah Lyles while Ryan Crouser will be in the hot seat for the first field event gold.

Several USAs 4th-placers will seek redemption against their fellow team members in pursuit of a coveted DL Champion wild-card bid to Worlds, including Keni Harrison and Josh Hoey. In addition, Grant Fisher will attempt to win his first Diamond League race while Noah Lyles will rematch Kishane Thompson at this year's Athletissima finale. Nationals around the world have ended, and with most teams to Tokyo nearly set, athletes will be looking to tie up loose ends and enter into Worlds preparation mode as the championship phase of the Diamond League begins. The first stop to do that is in Silesia, Poland, where Noah Lyles will rematch Kenny Bednarek over 100m following their stare-down and subsequent tussle at USAs this month. The meet will also play host to interesting men's and women's 1500m races and the return of Keely Hodgkinson and Faith Kipyegon in non-Diamond events.

A number of stacked races are queued up for this weekend's London Athletics Meet. In middle-distance action, U.S. fans will be treated to Donavan Brazier's first Diamond League race since 2022 against Emmanuel Wanyonyi. In the sprints, Noah Lyles and Letsile Tebogo will rematch in Lyles' 100m season debut and Julien Alfred will keep rolling in the 200m, while the UK will be sending their best in events across the board as most athletes will get their last chance to shine before national championships and trials.
