The 2026 Toyota USATF Outdoor Championships wrapped up an exciting Day 2 of competition. Both Noah Lyles and Sha'Carri Richardson claimed their third U.S. 100m title, with Lyles running a new world lead and Richardson equaling her season's best. Garrett Scantling captured the Decathlon title with a U.S. #1 performance, and Erin Marsh secured the victory in the Heptathlon. Roisin Willis lead the qualifiers in the Women's 800, dipping under 2 minutes, with West Ferguson leading the way on the men's side.

Garrett Scantling Captures Decathlon Title in World No. 4 Performance

Garrett Scantling capped off a dominant decathlon performance, winning four of the ten events to capture his third U.S. outdoor title. He finished with 8526 points, which is the best performance by an American this season and the fourth best in the world.

Noah Lyles Is Inevitable, Wins Third 100m National Title & Drops World Lead

It wasn't even close!

Noah Lyles ran a wind-legal 9.79, becoming the first man in the world under 9.80 this season. Ronnie Baker and Kenny Bednarek finished second and third, with the former running 9.875 to the Olympic medalist's 9.880.

Christian Coleman and Courtney Lindsey ran 9.93 and 9.97, with five total men under 10.00.

Lyles' time of 9.79 matches his lifetime best from August 2024, moving ahead of Oblique Seville's (JAM) previous lead of 9.82.

Sha'Carri Richardson Runs Away With 100m Title, Matches World No. 2

Now a three-time U.S. champion in the 100m, Richardson kept her foot on the gas, running 10.77 as she matched her SB she dropped last weekend in Florida. Kayla White ran the fastest she has all year, clocking 10.90 in her runner-up finish, followed by Tamari Davis (11.00) in third.

Roisin Willis Dips Under 2:00, Leads Qualifiers for the 800m final

Stopping the clock at 1:59.83, ahead of Meghan Hunter (2:00.38), Willis was the fastest contender, but will be joined by Addy Wiley, Juliette Whittaker, and Makayla Paige, who follow suit and handled business.

High school star Paige Sheppard finished fifth in the first heat, but will take the last time qualifier after running 2:00.99.

Lutkenhaus, Kessler Qualify For 800m Final, Brazier Misses the Cut

Cooper Lutkenhaus got back into the win column in the first of three 800m heats, punching a ticket to Saturday's final. Joined by 2024 double-Olympian Hobbs Kessler, the young duo ran 1:45.83 and 1:45.93, with former Virginia Tech Hokie Christian Jackson in third. 

Wes Ferguson (1:45.17) pounced late to run away with the win in the second heat, while Sean Dolan took the win in the final heat, running 1:46.11. 

Hobbs Kessler (1:45.93), Andrew James Casey (1:45.59), and Camden Marshall (1:46.40) filled out the remaining three "Big Qs".

Lyles, Bednarek, Rest of Favorites Through to 100m Final

The fastest man alive, Noah Lyles, cruised to the fastest qualifying time of the evening, crossing the line at 9.76, and will be joined by plenty of familiar faces in the final.

Kenny Bednarek and training partner Courtney Lindsey clocked 9.82 and 9.85 as they each earned a "Big Q". Christian Coleman won the middle heat in 9.90, notching a SB as he gears up for the final.

Sha'Carri Richardson Leads 100m Qualifiers, Joined By Kayla White, Anavia Battle

The 2024 Olympic champion clocked 10.78 in the second round of the 100m, leading all qualifiers by one-fifth of a second. Kayla White and Anavia Battle were the only other two women sub-11, with White winning her heat in 10.97 and Battle finishing runner-up behind Richardson in 10.99.

Erin Marsh Hangs On For National Title in Heptathlon

Marsh tallied 6059 points over the past two days, with a chunk of those points coming in her wins in the 100mH and 200m. She closed out the competition with a fourth-place finish in the 800m, crossing in 2:11.27.

Timara Chapman and Lauren Taubert round out the podium after scoring 6021 and 5971, respectively.

Khaleb McRae Goes Sub 45, Posts Fastest Men's 400m Qualifying Time

Khaleb McRae looked in top form, clocking 44.65 to post the fastest qualifying time in the men's 400m and his second fastest mark this outdoor season. McRae was the only competitor to go sub-45, with Chris Bailey and Bryce Deadmon following behind. Defending Olympic champion Quincy Hall notably does not advance after placing 6th in heat 3 with a time of 46.47.

Aaliyah Butler Leads Women's 400m Qualifiers

After running a U.S. #4 All-Time 400m mark earlier this season at Monaco Diamond League, it's no surprise Aaliyah Butler led the field in today's prelims. Butler cruised to win heat 2 in 50.53 and is the top-seeded competitor going into Saturday's final. She was the only athlete to go sub 51 in the prelims.
