The final day of the 2026 AAU Junior Olympic Games has been full of record-breaking performances!

Clifford Pointer III and Kitai Jones added another historic moment to the final day, battling to the finish in the boys 9-year-old 400m final.

Pointer III came away with the win in 58.70, breaking the previous AAU Junior Olympic Games record of 59.25. Jones was right behind in 58.95, also dipping under the former record and rewriting the record books in a thrilling final.

With both athletes finishing under the previous record, the 9-year-old boys 400m final delivered one of the most memorable races of the 2026 AAU Junior Olympic Games.
