Thirteen days after Werro beat Hodgkinson for European 800m gold, the two will race at a sold-out stadium in Zurich on Aug 27.

Thirteen days after Audrey Werro beat Keely Hodgkinson for European 800m gold in Birmingham, the two will meet again - this time on Werro's home turf.

Weltklasse Zürich has confirmed that Hodgkinson has been added to the women's 800m field on August 27, joining Werro, reigning world champion Lilian Odira, newly crowned European 1500m champion Georgia Hunter Bell, and Femke Broeders-Bol, who just equalled the Dutch national record over the distance in 1:55.54.

US audiences can watch the rematch LIVE on FloTrack on August 27. The 800m is slated for 3:41 PM ET.

As for the Birmingham backstory: at the European Championships on August 13, Werro was leading her semifinal with 120m to go when her foot got caught and she went down. She still finished the race, but in 2:35.35. Her appeal was approved and she was put through to the final.

One day later, the 22-year-old Swiss star clocked 1:54.81 - a championship record - to beat reigning Olympic champion Keely Hodgkinson for the European title.

As for the rematch, it will be one of the deepest 800m fields of the year.

Werro has been on a season-long tear. She has won three Diamond League 800m races in 2026, including running a Diamond League record of 1:53.98 in Stockholm, before lowering that to 1:53.80 in Paris - the third-fastest women's 800m in history.

Can Hodgkinson answer back? The next chapter of the rivalry is already being written.
