Alison dos Santos delivered a performance for the history books at the 2026 Zurich Diamond League, blasting to a stunning world record in the men’s 400m hurdles.

The Brazilian crossed the line in 45.80, becoming the first athlete to break the 46-second barrier in the event. His incredible run also set new Diamond League and meeting records.

Dos Santos’ latest triumph adds another chapter to his rivalry with Karsten Warholm, who finished second in 46.69. Ezekiel Nathaniel rounded out the podium in 47.50, while Matic Ian Gucek set a national record in sixth.

For dos Santos, the historic performance provides a spectacular finish to his Diamond League season. In Zurich, he produced a performance that will be remembered long after the final race.
